Ganga Dushehra
The River Ganges or Ganga is the holiest river for Hindus.
River Ganga is refereed to as Goddess and is called as Maa Ganga (mother
Ganga). Ganga originates from the Gangotri Glacier at Gaumukh in the Himalaya
at 4,100 meters above sea level and flows 2,525 km across northern India before
meeting the Bay of Bengal at Ganga Saagar.
The 'Puranas' (ancient Hindu scriptures) say that the sight,
the touch or just the touch of River Ganga cleanses all sins. Taking a dip in
the holy Ganga bestows heavenly blessings. The 'Narada Purana,' prophesied pilgrimages
in this Kali Yuga to the
Ganges must be done by all Hindus.
